For under five dollars, the Rite Aid eyeglass lens cleaner kit keeps things shiny and all screws tight. Fully recommended for business travelers.

You never want to ruin your professional image with smudged eyeglasses. Stick the kit in your briefcase, backpack, handbag or carryall. Use at bus stops and after flights, before interviews, whenever you have a few minutes.

What's in the Rite Aid Eyeglass & Sunglass Cleaner Kit -

  • The lightweight, plastic case is see-through and has a Velcro fastener, so it's easy to open and close, plus you can grab in there and get only what you need without fiddling around.
  • The screwdriver has two ends, a positive end (for Philips head drivers) and a negative end for the Flattop screws. Since the ends are safely capped, the tool won't come poking out. But with the little + and -- icons, you don't have to uncap both ends to figure out what screwdriver you need. This is a thoughtful addition to the kit.
  • The lens cleaner kit includes a small chamois for wiping your coated, glass, plastic and carbonate lenses.
  • A one fluid ounce lens cleaner spray bottle takes up the bulk of this mini-kit. Again, this cleaner is safe for all kinds of lenses. Remember to put this bottle in your Ziplock with the "toiletries" in your carry-on bags when flying.

What Should be Improved -

This kit could use a few extra eyeglass frame screws. Lacking extras, the traveler is forced to find an eyeglass store in a nearby mall or something and beg off a few screws. It might be worthwhile to get some screws that way, before a trip, and stick them on a piece of tape against the inside of the kit.

How to Clean your Glasses with this Kit -

Before you clean the lenses, tighten down the screws. It seems like eyeglass screws fall out at the worst times, and even if you find the tiny screw, you can't set it properly with your fingernail or a coin. It's great to have a tiny screwdriver for tightening your frames ever time you clean the lenses.

Make sure you wipe the dust off your lens lightly first with the chamois. This way dirty dust particles won't get ground across the glass or plastic surface when you really get in there and rub. Spray the lenses on both sides with the cleaner. Let sit a moment and wipe clean with the chamois, but harder this time, to get it really clean.
